Verb, “Ohio Contemporary Ballet” connects with community in meaningful ways to develop appreciation for dance through performances and outreach programs that promote learning and nurture wellness. The company cultivates dance appreciation through community dance classes, school residencies, senior movement classes, library programs, master classes, and college course partnerships.

Education is integral to the mission of Verb. Our programs integrate how movement relates to subjects such as science, social studies, language arts, and math. Through improvisation and dance composition exercises, students create dances to explore and reinforce themes they are learning in other subjects. Integrated curriculum lessons are created in collaboration with classroom teachers, follow content standards and can be tailored to the specific needs of each class.

Our senior programs encourage creativity, social interaction, and an appreciation of the arts through movement workshops. Led by professionally trained dancers and movement experts, Moving Connections help older adults develop flexibility, increase breath, and exercise concentration that connects mind to body. In addition to these programs, we also offer Children’s Ballets performances, shortened story ballets that teach the students about tolerance, appreciation of other cultures, as well as they ways plot and narrative can be communicated through music, and movement.
