Biography

Stephanie Stewart is the multimedia artist and owner of P31 Art & Design. She has been a contributor to the arts and culture sector for many years and has built a creative business from the ground up. Stewart consistently produces original works of art that are used as a central point of inspiration for all of her handmade products and print goods. Stewart works in the mediums of acrylic paint, watercolor, and mixed media content. With her love for art with a focus on the contemporary genre, Stewart’s artwork has been exhibited in galleries and art venues throughout northeast Ohio. Most recently her work has been on view with the Akron Black Artist Guild, Akron Women’s Art League, Summit County Land Bank, and the GAR Foundation. She also has had public artworks on view through the Slavic Village Rooms to Let, Waterloo Arts Project, and the City of Akron’s Kerr Park Mural installation.

Stephanie Stewart’s artist workshops are ageless and teach guided principles that focus on the basic elements of art. Stewart’s art classes have interdisciplinary qualities that incorporate subjects like science, English, and history. She demonstrates an all-inclusive teaching style that allows for the freedom of creativity to flow throughout her class focusing on the social-emotional learning (SEL) principles. Through conducting both self-guided and instructor-led classes with demonstrations, Stewart intends to draw out the self-assurance and self-love for her students’ creations. Stewart’s art workshops and lessons have been designed to be conducted remotely and in person.

Stewart believes there is creativity nested inside of everyone. Her teaching style is reflective of this belief by way of her learners exploring new methods of experimentation using non-traditional art mediums and tools. Building unique compositions through these experiments gives her class the opportunity to express themselves, problem solve, and use critical thinking skills.

RECENT PROJECTS: “Bio-Art: X-Ray My Hand”, En-Rich-Ment Arts Center (Canton), Grades 5-12, Semester series 2024: Students spent 12 weeks studying the human body’s skeletal system and creating works of art inspired by the lesson. In this example, we used clay to sculpt a 3-d image of our hand.

“Dino King”, The Edge Summer Camp (Twinsburg), Grades 1-7, Summer Camp 2024: Our summer art camp theme was Time Travel, where each day we spent in a different time era based on global world history. On this day, we used multimedia art elements and neo-expressionism techniques of Jean Michele Basquiat to create our work of art.

“Introducing Zines”, Summit Artspace (Akron), Ages 5-75 (ageless), Art Workshop Series 2024: Participants were guided through an interactive art workshop to create a traditionally made Zines (or little magazines) from a single piece of paper. Participants were provided materials and encouraged to share their story with others.
