Biography
Miriam is a visual artist specializing in classical realist painting and drawing, with additional expertise as a portrait artist, muralist, and educator. She has had multiple apprenticeships with amazing artists, including a rigorous atelier program at the Golden Gate Atelier, which focused on classical training for realist artists. Miriam’s work spans various genres, including still life, landscape, portraiture, and figurative art. Her artwork has been exhibited internationally and nationally in galleries and published in magazines both nationally and internationally.
Miriam’s goal is to influence and educate others in the field of figurative realism, guiding them on a path to success. Her teaching method breaks down the drawing and painting process into stages, teaching each stage consecutively in an atelier style. She focuses on high standards, starting with mastering the setup, tools, and materials, and progressing to advanced techniques, ensuring accuracy in her students’ work. Miriam is highly knowledgeable and passionate about her field, and she loves sharing her expertise and witnessing the success of her students.
In addition to her classical training, Miriam enjoys engaging communities in creating and beautifying walls through mural projects. She has taught in various types of organizations, customizing content and themes based on clients’ requests.
Miriam has experience teaching a wide age range, from teens to older adults, and has conducted workshops, private mentorship, and both private and group online classes. She has taught group sizes ranging from 40 students to private one-on-one sessions. Miriam particularly loves teaching subjects such as artistic anatomy (with a focus on the face), portraiture, figurative art, drawing basics, watercolor, oil painting, creating murals, and concept design.
As a professional craftsman, Miriam works on commissioned portraits from her studio at 400 West, sells artwork through galleries, and teaches on the side. Having had the privilege of multiple apprenticeships with exceptional artists, she is now eager to pass on the tradition and share her knowledge with the next generation of artists.
