Biography

Diana Chittester has been building a reputation as one of the area’s most gifted guitar players, intimate songwriters, and forceful vocalists over the past decade, releasing a series of albums that display her growing confidence and ability to communicate feelings that are deeply personal yet universal. Diana has shared the stage with Lyle Lovett, Gin Blossoms, The Accidentals, Joan Osborne, Peter Mulvey, Chris Trapper, Lisa Loeb, and Colin Hay; performing at performing arts centers (PACs) and venues across the eastern U.S. and Canada including Kent State PAC, Stocker Arts, Showplace Centre, Evening Muse, Music Box Supper Club, and The Ark. In 2019, Diana Chittester’s album Paradox (2018) won Best Local Album in Cleveland Scene Magazine and in June 2019, Diana was selected by Riff Journal as one of the “Top 50 Gifted Singer-Songwriters You MUST Know.”

Diana’s personal goal as an educator is to help a student recognize that by using creativity to create, whether it’s a song, a lyric, or a thought, they are never without an answer or unable to succeed. With creativity, you can always find a solution to your problem. Often, when we are learning a new skill, we like to gather information and experiment privately on our own time. Diana’s approach to teaching is to move participants out of their comfort zone by having all students engage in the moment. Diana combines her live performance and songwriting experience with her education in English/creative writing to provide English Language Arts and music education-focused workshops and programs.

The award of this badge shows that the artist participated in a two-day workshop at the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning that focused on understanding arts integration, domains of youth development, behavior management, academic and fine arts standards, outcomes and indicators, and learning strategies and activities. The earner developed a program plan to apply these concepts in their work with students, earning a score of 75% or greater related to specific scoring criteria.
