Biography

In Harmony Therapeutic Services harnesses the power of music as a vehicle for children and adolescents to process information and emotions, express themselves, learn, create, and heal. As an organization, they believe in teaching through a therapeutic lens and use musical interventions and experiences linked to Ohio Content Standards to address academic and social-emotional goals. Their services are provided by highly qualified, board-certified music therapists, and their programs are developed so that children and adolescents are able to achieve individualized goals and live in harmony with themselves and the world around them.
In Harmony specializes in working with children and adolescents living with developmental disabilities and/or who have experienced trauma. In Harmony uses Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports, Applied Behavioral Analysis, restorative practices, and trauma-sensitive supports in its practice with both groups and individuals.

As a teaching organization, In Harmony’s therapists have a vast knowledge of educational concepts and approaches. They are well-versed in Ohio’s Content Standards and are able to link musical experiences and interventions to individual and group goals that align with the state standards. They utilize Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports, Applied Behavioral, Analysis, restorative practices, and trauma-informed supports in their practice and are able to present their materials through a therapeutic lens, which makes their services ideal for schools in which there may be a high incidence of behavioral concerns and/or social-emotional
challenges.

Because of In Harmony’s extensive work in educational settings, they have developed a clear vision of the role of the artist in an educational setting. Their goal is always to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. They seek information and feedback from teachers and administrators and welcome the opportunity to work with other staff members (i.e. occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, physical therapists, school psychologists, and intervention specialists) in the development and evaluation of techniques to address individual and group areas of need. Musical interventions that are frequently used in In Harmony’s practice include, but are not limited to: singing, dancing, instrument playing, lyric analysis, songwriting, and sensory integrated music experiences.
