RECENT PROJECTS: “Creating Raku Pottery and the Japanese Tea Ceremony,” John Marshall High School (Cleveland). Ceramic students made Japanese style tea bowls from clay, glazed them, and then fired them in an outdoor, fuel burning kiln. The residency concluded with a recreation of the Japanese Tea Ceremony with participants sitting on bamboo floor mats and enjoying drinking Matcha tea from their cups along with sweets and conversation.
Sculptural Glass Tile Mosaic on the theme of Diversity, Andrews Osborne Academy (Willoughby). At this international K-12 boarding school, students from various grades completed a four foot high, eight foot wide mosaic now on permanent display. This piece joins an earlier work as part of a proposed five part installation representing the school’s core values.
“From Geometry to Escher,” McCormick Middle School, (Wellington). Worked with several gifted classes to unlock the secrets of how Dutch artist, M. C. Escher created his mind baffling tessellations by analyzing his processes and making our own.
